32.   Natatorium (Swimming Pool)

The indoor, heated “tank” measured 30 ft. by 70 ft. and boasted a slide on the shallow side and a diving board on the deep end.   The building included a tub, shower, steam baths, and dressing rooms.  Ladies swam on Friday, and children on Wednesday and Saturday.  White towels with the company’s red “T” monogram were provided.  Water polo, swimming and diving lessons, competitions and water carnivals were held in the “tank.”  When the mine collapsed on April 21, 1917, the natatorium was the first structure to disappear.
